SEND, Care farm and Wellness
Poppies Farm, Hurst, provides a variety of options for your school or organisation to visit the Farm, either physically or virtually on a group or individual basis. We specialise in providing a safe and inspiring environment for children with or without special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and people who struggle with maintaining Mental Health.
We offer wellness and holistic visits with our livestock. Sheep, Cows, Ponies, Pigs, Goats, Chickens, Quails, Ducks, Guinea Pigs and Rabbits are available. Depending on the season, Lambs ,Calves, Piglets and Chicks are also on the farm for Children and Adults to interact with.
We are currently working with many local primary and secondary schools who have their students attend the farm for various reasons. Some schools have livestock seasonally situated within their grounds. Children are shown how to care for the animals and experience the many well being benefits of being around nature and animals. They also learn to apreciate responsibility and take pride in their work.
Poppies farm provide a variety of options for children and adults with special abilities and needs. Visits are tailored to you and your requirements. We specialise in visits for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).We can also offer Home Educated Children the opportunity to learn on our farm with specifically designed visits for your child/ren. Children work in small groups of up to 4, of various ages. They can learn to work effectively, negotiate and compramise with their group and have a sense of belonging and pride in what that they accomplish.
Venue and service provision
Enquiries are welcomed from local licensed therapists and practitioners who work with children and young adults.
